Understanding Energy Play, Vibration and BDSM (Follow up )

Q: How does a Dom bring energy play into their BDSM dynamic?

A: I think the first step is for the top to honestly acknowledge and respect the fact that energy is present in everything and at every moment. When a person is able to honor the intangible aspects of life, they will then begin to handle the tangible parts in a way that resonates with the whole person.  For instance, in the same way people handle a full glass of water differently then they handle an empty glass, a top who recognizes that each individual is filled with energy, will begin to handle the bottom in a way that is beneficial to the inside and outside of that person.  Once a top acknowledges the inside and outside, his play will begin to embrace the whole human being.

To me, it all starts with the breath. Diaphragmatic Breathing is one of the simplest ways to get a submissive to begin the process of relaxation prior to play.  Breathing from ones diaphragm also oxygenates the blood while relaxing the muscles and opens the Akashic channels in the body.

This type of breathing is also used to turn off the fight or flight reflex which can be detrimental to play. When a person is in pain, it is the body that engages the fight or flight response and disengages rational thought. This survival process has been ingrained in the human species for as long as we have existed and is our bio-mechanical means self preservation.

By doing 3 slow and steady diaphragmatic breaths you subvert the fight or flight response and maintain or even enhance your ability to think rationally.

Another interesting component of diaphragmatic breathing is adding prostration. Prostration or slave positions are not only used as honorariums it is also used as a way for a sub to find her proper mindset. Many times, a sub comes home from work, a rough week with the family, or has an issue with the vanilla world, and may find it hard to fall into the proper head space. So if the top creates a ritual that helps the sub focus on the body's ability to transition from one position to the next, it becomes easier for her to let go of her vanilla issues and loose herself in her submission.

One of the other techniques a person can use is slave Mantras. Mantras are essentially selfish memes that can help change or refine a persons mindset. While memes work subconsciously, they always have an outside manifestation that can be noticed by the top and the sub.

If we combine diaphragmatic breathing with slave positions and mantras we are creating a ritual that borders on such meditative styles as yoga, tai chi etc...

For example, I would have positions one through five and then make sure that each line of the Mantra would correspond with a different portion of the Mantra, for example:

Position 1
Mantra Verse 1

Position 2
Mantra Verse 2

And so on... One thing about this form of play is that the sub is focused on the protocol and not the vanilla aspects.  This can be very grounding and can bring about the slave mindset.
