How much input should an s/type have when it comes to whom the D/type chooses to add in your play?

I think a person should be able to give all the opinion they would like. But, the final decision should be made by the Dominant based on all the information given by all persons involved. In my experience the problem with getting opinions from sub / slaves is that sometimes it leads them to believe that there input will or should determine the out come. And, when it doesn't or the opposite happens, it can spark resentment and begin a down ward spiral that will ruin the the dynamic or play that is being sought.

I feel that you have to establish not only the power dynamic in your relationship as well as a method of adhering to that power prior to bringing anyone into that dynamic. To me, this is were people and relationships go astray.

So when you are establishing your "Dom-mocracy" establish protocols that manage expectation through transparency and communication. And always remind those under you that you have the final say and it will be obeyed regardless
